How It Works

You will normally receive a response within 48 hours of submitting your case. Most cases are answered within 24 hours. If it takes longer, we will contact you. You get notified in the app as soon as the dermatologist has reviewed your case.

We assess and treat most common skin conditions: acne, eczema, contact dermatitis, psoriasis, rosacea, urticaria, seborrhoeic dermatitis and dandruff, ringworm and athlete's foot, nail fungus, scabies, impetigo, herpes simplex (cold sores), shingles, molluscum contagiosum, genital warts, vitiligo, alopecia areata, lichen planus and polymorphic light eruption (sun allergy). We also assess suspicious moles and skin changes and refer you onward if an in-person examination is needed.

Payment is taken when you submit your case. If the photos or the information are not enough for our dermatologists to make a sound assessment, we first ask you to add more photos or details. If the case still cannot be assessed, we refund the payment to the method you used, and we tell you where to be examined in person instead.

An assessment based on photos cannot rule out skin cancer. If the dermatologist sees anything that needs closer examination, you will be told to be seen in person, and we will help you get there. A suspicious spot needs examination with a dermatoscope and, if there is any doubt, removal for laboratory analysis.

If you have a fever, rapidly spreading redness, severe pain or difficulty breathing, contact your doctor, the out-of-hours service or call 112 — do not use SKIND. SKIND is for skin conditions that are not acute.

Yes. You can create a case for a child under 18 through your own profile if you hold parental responsibility. Where custody is shared, either parent may create the case, but you should agree on it first. You submit a sworn declaration in the app. Under the Danish Health Act, 15–17-year-olds can consent to treatment themselves and have their own right to confidentiality — including from their parents.

Start a new case in the app. On the first screen, where you choose who the case is for, tap "+ Add child" and enter your child's name and CPR number (DDMMYY-XXXX — you can find it on your child's health insurance card). Then select your child in the list and tap "Next". The rest of the case is filled in as usual, with photos and questions. Your child is saved to your profile, so next time you simply select them. You can edit or remove your child's details under Settings in the app.

Your case is assessed by two specialists in dermatology and venereology (speciallæge i hud- og kønssygdomme) holding Danish authorisation from the Danish Patient Safety Authority. They carry independent professional responsibility under the Danish Authorisation Act and are bound by medical confidentiality under the Danish Health Act. A responsible physician is appointed and reviews cases regularly. Every assessment is made by a human, not an algorithm.

If the dermatologist decides you need prescription treatment, the prescription is issued electronically and your treatment plan is available in the app. You are notified in the app when the prescription is ready and how to collect the medicine. If you live outside Denmark, a Danish prescription cannot always be dispensed locally — contact us before submitting a case.

SKIND is available to customers residing in the EU and the EEA (the EU plus Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein). If you try to create a case from a country outside the EU/EEA, you are told the service is not available to you. Login and identity verification use MitID, which requires a Danish CPR number. If you live in the EU/EEA without MitID, contact us at info@skinchange.ai before submitting a case and we will advise you.
